They worked perfectly on my motorcycle trailer. The installation is very easy. If you have a 3.5" hole saw this will take a few seconds, but you can also cut it with a router. The base plate is ideal as a template for cutting holes. Carriage bolts (and holes) are 3/8 inch in diameter. If you're installing it yourself into something like a trailer, I'd suggest enlarging the screw holes by 1 size to make it easier to line up the plate once you're under the trailer (or wherever you're installing it) you came from hurry in, have all the parts you need to install them and they keep you going with this race car, I'll trust them with my bike! There are several other versions of this plate from other manufacturers that don't include a back plate. Personally I would I go for these. This backplate helps distribute the load to the screws Don't hold your D-rings tight. They hold the baseplate in place and spread the load across the floor/wall surface etc. Would happily buy them again if I need them there was one more thing!
