Review on Wi-Fi router ASUS RT-AC88U, black/red by Amphai Nanthaklang ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The product can be used, I expected a little more.

It just so happens that I have two different versions of this apparatus in my possession. The first one had no unusual issues, other than the one where you had to dance with a tambourine in order to activate the "AC" wireless data transfer mode, which was the infamous problem with channel selection. The second one had no issues at all. But, once I had everything set up, there were no more problems; everything now runs really quickly, and the transfer rate of data from a NAS over the air is not limited to 40 MB per second. But with the second one, the predicament is already in a worse state: an hour after the purchase, the WiFi network operating at 5 GHz stopped working. In principle, already during the check in the store, vague suspicions began to creep in because the relevant indicator did not light up, and the devices were unable to see the network. On the other hand, he blamed everything that happened on the fact that they had chosen the wrong channel. Due to a lack of available time, changing the settings manually was not an option. As a direct consequence of this, the final inspection has already been performed at home. At this location, utilizing the first router, we were successful in establishing a bridge operating at a frequency of 5 GHz. And he worked for at least ten to fifteen minutes. After then, it failed in a controlled manner and only recovered once the device was restarted. Then, almost immediately, he started to tear, and he continued to do so until he passed away. Nothing worked, not resetting the BIOS to factory defaults, not using the hard reset button, not flashing with the standard tools to different firmware versions downloaded from the manufacturer's website. The surprising appearance of the 5 GHz broadcast network while the router was operating in router mode lasted all of one minute before it suddenly vanished. He brought it back with him and quickly ran across another person who had suffered the same fate, with the exception that his 2.4GHz network was destroyed. After that, I have no idea what to believe about the level of quality that was achieved in the manufacturing of this equipment. There may be an issue with the temperature being too high. The system is already heating up fairly nicely, and at this point, the environment is also quite warm. In any event, this is an error on the part of the manufacturer; given that you are already producing such a hot piece of iron, you should take care to ensure that it stays cool.

Pros
  • When it comes to transferring data over the air, it is quick, has good coverage, and makes full use of the capabilities of the NAS.
Cons
  • The percentage of married people is reaching very high levels.
