Does pretty much everything you expect. Allows one keyboard, one mouse and one monitor to be used between 8 computers. I like how they designed it as there is only ONE VGA cable going from the back of the KVM device to each computer. On the computer side, the same cable ends with a USB and a VGA connector. This reduces cable clutter and saves space. If you need to extend the cable, please use extensions at the end of the VGA/USB cable. The only downside to this product is that it takes about a full second to switch between computers. Not so hot what's up. I didn't have to use the power adapter on the device. I also didn't have to turn off all computers/servers when connecting cables. Only 6 different computers are currently connected to this device. 3 of them are Windows 2008 servers, one NVR (Windows XP Embedded) and 2 Windows XP desktops.
