This type of instrument is now often repackaged as a guitar saddle cutter so I looked around for the price and found this instrument with no repackaging. I'm not really trying to cut nut slots where there aren't any, but I use it to recess nut slots that have just been started with a factory installed guitar saddle. It's very well made for that. Real files are expensive and you only get a few sizes in a set. Depending on the string gauges of your guitar, you will need specific files. There are several widths with this tool, which should cover most string widths.
