Review on 🎧 Audio-Technica ATH-WP900 Over-Ear High-Resolution Headphones, Flame Maple/Black - Immerse in Exceptional Audio Quality by Sarah Cannella

Very musical experience

Their sound is wide, deep and atmospheric. (more so than the DT700, which is pretty good in the soundstage department). The timbre is a bit more organic and the tuning itself is typical of audio gear, slightly W-shaped I would say. For $650 headphones, the bass is slightly warm, vague, and muffled. It doesn't have as sharp and fast textures as, for example, a titanium driver. It's still very interesting, but not quite the last word in terms of technical details. However, this DLC coating that the AT uses makes the sound a bit more natural, and there's no metallic or plastic sheen. There is some shine in the upper mids and some shimmer in the highs. The high frequencies are quite extended, detailed and relaxed. There seems to be a small hole in the bottom center, which for me isn't a problem with closed headphones, it creates a feeling of some bass separation. versatile and very pleasant and musical to listen to. Also great for regular daily browsing of YouTube, Netflix, etc. The overall response is a bit colorful and exciting, but the balance and timbre is natural and organic. The highs have a certain analytical quality, they never seem clipped, quite open and airy, but also have a kind of "reverb" effect which I think comes from the wood. That's not a problem, it just adds character to the headphones. But in general these aren't fully transparent headphones, as the same DLC-coated MSR7B driver model is a little more cohesive and reveals more of the original hardware. (also less bass) In the end it sounds as nice as it looks, just be aware that this isn't really a neutral reference listening. The wearing comfort is excellent. Beautiful wooden mug. Very soft protein leather, the headphones are lightweight but there are some plastic components that feel a bit cheap for the asking price. But again, these materials help ensure long-term comfort. The cables seem a bit basic. But there are some fancy audiophile braided cables for A2DC connection on the internet. I believe that portable headphones should come with a microphone/remote cable.
