I bought two different brands of insulated waterproof/water-resistant pants. I inspected both pairs for general build quality, material, and potential for actual usability. These pants won at all of those. The pockets are a little thin, but better than the other pants. The fly zipper is metal and seems to be made well. The fly button is riveted on, like with my Wrangler & Ariat jeans. The material seems to be great for holding up against brush & yet still flexible. Then, I decided to do a water repellency test. I laid them flat on a counter top and poured a small puddle of water on them, about 3in in diameter. The water instantly beaded up & I lightly rubbed on it in a circular motion with my finger. After sitting for 5min, the inside of the pant leg was completely dry. I am returning the others and keeping these.
