Like other reviewers, we use Dragon for medical EMR. We bought this Speechmike Pro III and PowerMic II. Of the two, we preferred the PowerMicII. Despite the higher price but something. Both proved to be excellent microphones. It's not a good price, but if you're looking for a quality microphone, the SpeechMike will save you a few bucks (compared to the PowerMic) and do the job well. The microphone, which is our main concern, is excellent. Dictation quality is noticeably improved when using this microphone compared to the standard Logitech microphone or headset that came with the Dragon. We have fewer errors, better accuracy and the ability to hold a more durable microphone, similar to a dictaphone. As described in another review, the mouse controls are sensitive. The PowerMic was slightly better in this design (by a margin similar to an IBM laptop). However, if you're using a desktop, you should definitely use a mouse. If you're using a laptop, you might prefer it over a trackpad, depending on your preferences. The point is, if you're spending over $300 on a microphone, you're a power user with a specific business application. For a student writing term papers, or for the casual user writing letters, it will never be cost effective. However, if you are looking for a high-end microphone, this is a good choice. For a savings of over $100 over the PowerMic, this is just great.
