I chose them for cycling and hiking in cold weather. I'm 5ft 11in, 175lbs and the average height fits me perfectly. They have a good fleece lining that does a very good job of keeping you warm and toasty. .For cycling I wear them as a first layer. I put on my cycling shorts and it works best for me. No chafing and very comfortable. My last ride was in the 30's, it was rainy and the trail was wet. Despite the cold and wet, I was warm enough thanks to warm pants. They are beautiful and breathable, ideal for heavy exertion when you break a sweat. Not suitable as a windbreak. Personally I prefer that they are breathable and able to wick moisture away from me to dry. So if you're looking for something windproof/sustainable, go ahead. cozy.
