This bulb socket appears to be well made and durable. I had trouble replacing a fluorescent lamp with a pen holder with an LED. There are very few options with this socket configuration, and of the two I found, one was very weak and the other burned out very quickly. After this experience, I decided it would be easier to swap out the lamp holder and use a lamp with a standard base. I should have done that from the start. I had to cut out the ballast to fit the LED so it wasn't too difficult to hook up a new lamp holder and this was just what I needed.
