Legrand 8052CC10 - High-Capacity 660W 250V Porcelain Electrical Fixture Review

I recently dropped a ceiling light and the ceramic sockets broke. I couldn't find a suitable replacement in the big local stores. I was pleased with their quality when they arrived and that they are an established brand in the electrical components world. I needed a corner mount for my application. While the included brackets didn't work for my purposes, I was able to salvage those from the old sockets and mount them to these. Worked great! These devices are UL listed and of very good quality.

This bulb socket appears to be well made and durable. I had trouble replacing a fluorescent lamp with a pen holder with an LED. There are very few options with this socket configuration, and of the two I found, one was very weak and the other burned out very quickly. After this experience, I decided it would be easier to swap out the lamp holder and use a lamp with a standard base. I should have done that from the start. I have used several of these bulbs to replace the tubular halogen bulbs in several overhead lights with standard LED bulbs. I worry about halogen bulbs, they always get very hot in a small space like a light fixture. By making a few simple modifications to the fixture and installing one of those standard bulb sockets in place of the halogen bulb socket, I changed a 100w fixture to around 10w and dumped a lot of unnecessary and potentially dangerous heat into the fixture.
