I have used several of these bulbs to replace the tubular halogen bulbs in several overhead lights with standard LED bulbs. I worry about halogen bulbs, they always get very hot in a small space like a light fixture. By making a few simple modifications to the fixture and installing one of those standard bulb sockets in place of the halogen bulb socket, I changed a 100w fixture to around 10w and dumped a lot of unnecessary and potentially dangerous heat into the fixture. Easy to do if you're mechanically inclined enough and have some electrical knowledge. Just be safe and make sure you know what you're doing. First, of course, de-energize the device!
