🔴 Spectre Performance Stainless Steel Sleeving Kit - Red/Blue (Model 7490) Review

The socket is twisted too big and therefore unusable. We tried putting it on anyway and it looks terrible. It was supposed to be an engine conversion kit, but the quality is lacking. Sorry for the bad rating, maybe we just got a bad kit.

Good product, difficult to use at first but you get used to it. A bit of WD-40 will help slide the sleeves onto the hose. Be sure to use tape on the ends to hold the grommets in place and prevent metal threads from getting everywhere including your fingers when installing/putting them on. The quality of the screw clamps could have been better, before installation I replaced some with stronger ones.

The sleeve was too thin for a professional look. The top photo is the more expensive case I had to buy and the bottom photo is the Specter case. I had to go out and buy better material for the sleeves, which wasn't cheap. I was able to use some of the tips so of course I can't return the kit because I used some of the tips and buying the tips individually was almost as expensive as the cost of the kit so live and learn I guess.

Then used kit #7490 (Red/Blue) for engine coolant hoses. Please note that this can take a long time. I also found the MagnaBraid very difficult to cut. I ordered FLEXOSCI Heavy Duty Serrated Edge Scissors/Shears ($12) to complete the cut as nothing I had at my store cut the braid well. On the other hand, MagnaBraid is TUFF! The end results can look very pretty, but be aware that this is not a 10 minute job!

I bought this kit with the intention of using bushings. but it flew out the window when I wasted 1.5 hours. try to put them on hoses and make them look good. I could do it but wow. What an eyesore. Also, I have a 1998 Mustang and the look would be too dated for me. However, I have used fittings which I like! You're adding the perfect amount of that extra bite your engine needs. I've since added even more screw caps and such. Reinforcement ROCK.

Fits the top hose of a 2004 Colorado Supercharged with a modified top hose. Definitely recommend wearing gloves, the metal braids will make you bleed, I put two fingers in before I got any wiser. Doesn't like sharp turns, the top turn (closest to the radiator) seriously beat me. The item looks great but requires some creative work as the red bezel has no way to secure it to prevent rattling.
