Beautiful binoculars. These binoculars have one of the largest fields of view. They work surprisingly well for both close-up and medium-distance objects. They are the standard in a sea of binoculars. I also have a Monarch 5 12x42 and use it to photograph subjects at long distances. Shaking is an important factor for 12x42. It's a lot less difficult Use 8x42 instead of 12x42. Both binoculars fit on a tripod adapter. I have a small tripod that I use on picnic tables and the like. A small tripod also helps me a lot when I'm scanning on a slope.
