Sturdy phone holder easily attaches to bike handlebars. The mechanism for holding the phone is a quirk. My Galaxy S8 fits easily between the two side bars that slide in and out to grab the phone from the sides (there is a small button on the bottom right to release them so they pop out and you just push them back to the center, to hold her phone). Those two sidebars and a small tray that wobbles down the bottom are almost enough to hold the phone without the X-shaped band running around the corners, but even then I wouldn't go against the band. You have to use it, and to do that you also have to fold the small shelf below (the shelf may not be visible in the photos when folded in the normal position). The only issue I had was that the grips cover some of my side buttons and I can't move the phone up far enough to get the release I want. Also, I've found that pulling the side handles too hard tends to activate "BIXBY" on my phone and put pressure on the left side - that's where the Bixby assistant (Samsung's Siri cousin) is located. Using the X-Strap to secure the corners of the phone is easy, but it would be far better if it wasn't needed.
