Review on Liftgate Tailgate Supports 1984 1996 1984 1990 by Cody Howard

Dangerous and poorly constructed

You get what you pay for. The pistons on these struts are very strong, but the hatch opens dangerously quickly. I closed the tailgate on my 1996 XJ and the latch would not fully engage, causing the sunroof to open with incredible speed. So much so that he literally broke the plastic heads (which attach to the Jeep's hinge) on both luggage racks at one end. Then the hatch slammed very hard and fast. If I hadn't jumped back I might not have written this review. The attachment points on these racks are very cheap plastic for the pressure they put on them. Poor quality and dangerous in my opinion.
