The plastic jacket on the cable takes more torsional stress than the cable that originally came with my Macbook Pro. Maybe it's just more flexible, but it took years for the old cable to show any tension. See image. 4 year old cable on the left, new 4 week old cable on the right. Maybe it's normal and I'm overreacting, it's worrying me. No problems yet, but I've only had it for a month. The time will show.
