Bumblebee Light

The low-level LED light is really hard to beat. When I unpacked the microscope, I found two uniquely designed light sources. The LEDs are in an array mounted on a node that looks like a fuse box. One is under the stage, the other above. I'm curious to know if it was made to be interchangeable. It turns out that none of the modules are particularly bright. Light should always be insanely bright. A microscope in its simplest sense is a reflector/emitter of light and due to the weak light source it is difficult to protect. I will try my best because I really like this microscope. While the most common microscopes shine light through a translucent sample, stereoscopic microscopes are designed to observe the surface of opaque objects such as rocks or metals. I found the brightest light in our house (quite bright actually) and I had a phone mount attached to an eyepiece and streamed to a laptop for recording. It was pretty good. I examined the surface of my Leatherman, looked at the face of my Apple Watch, and examined the blade of a dull, razor-sharp knife. I show them in my video. Unfortunately, that was all before I even knew anything about the 80x lens. My kids looked at a bee through a similar microscope a few years ago and are less afraid of it now. If the manufacturers upgraded the headlights, it would be $127. I am well versed in light sources and I will upgrade the light source myself and I will continue to enjoy using it.
