This was our second attempt at ordering a push machine. We have friends who had it and liked it so we decided to buy it. Apparently they changed the wheels recently, I emailed Step 2 and the new wheels are SO LOUD. The answer I got in step 2 is below: These wheels are designed to produce limited noise depending on the floor surface. The accentuating finish affects noise levels - cement, gravel, ash, dirt, wood, decking, etc. The previous whisper wheel was made in China and is no longer used on buggies. The wheel design has been revised and upgraded and is now made in the USA. It provides a new sporty look and also has a soft rubber compound over the edge. Again, the new wheel produces limited noise depending on the accenting surface. The floor surface such as cement, gravel, wood, tile, grass, dirt, etc. as well as the child's weight have a major impact on the noise level. You cannot talk to someone walking with you or hear your child. It hums and vibrates. The whole neighborhood will know we're coming. I'm sending both back and will try to find an older version. The old version is nice and quiet.
