Review on πŸ”Š Clyxgs TPA3116D2 2.1 Digital Power Amplifier Board - 2x80W+100W Bass Audio Stereo AMP Module for DIY Audio System Speakers (12-26V) by Erin Henderson

4 1/5 stars because it's very good but not perfect.

I used a 19v laptop power supply that plugged directly into the board. I have a pair of Alesis 100 watt professional quality studio monitors and a Klipsch subwoofer that was part of the dead Klipsch 2.1 powered speaker system. The input is connected to my desktop PC. These speakers can use a lot of power and this board suits them well. GOOD: Sounds great, lots of power, clean and quiet - no hissing. It can be loud and does a great job with a subwoofer. The board itself is well made. The pans are soldered in a straight line - I haven't noticed any imperfections. I haven't looked for thermal paste under the heat shield yet, but I have one that I might apply at some point if I ever get around to testing it. The radiator doesn't get hot at all and every now and then I put a lot of stress on it. THE BAD: I have no idea what exactly the knobs (potentiometers) do - they are not what I would expect from a 2.1 amp amp. You expect general volume control, subwoofer volume control, and bass control. This is not what management appears to be! I can make it sound great, but not intuitive. But that doesn't really matter - I don't have to make adjustments very often. I installed it and forgot to use my PC's volume control to adjust the volume. So if I were to use this for a different purpose, e.g. a portable speaker system, or something other people would need to set up to run, then that could be the problem - it's counterintuitive. I wouldn't even know how to label the controls. I would definitely buy again. I can only recommend it to control a 2.1 speaker system - whether at a desk, in the bedroom or in the living room.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
