I've had the camera for a month now and I really like it. It comes with a free month of Nest Aware and I can say that I felt it was worth purchasing the subscription at the end of the trial period. The video quality is excellent. Honestly, this is the best part of the camera. If someone enters my house while I'm not there, I can easily identify them. I can also press a button and talk to anyone in my house through the camera. This camera provides security when we are away from home or on vacation. We have an alarm system but being able to control what's going on is great. I have pets, so I don't use motion alerts, I use "people alerts". that come with a Nest subscription. I tested it and it works every time I test it. The only time I get a false alarm is when my cat jumps on the back of the couch to look out the window because the camera sees him as a 4 foot cat man I think. Nest Aware subscription is $100/year for the first camera and then $50/year for each additional camera. A lot of the 1-star reviews I've read love the camera, but people seem pretty pissed off at the cost of the plan. Maybe I'm missing something, but I actually see good value in it. I'm not sure if other people who write reviews know how much home security costs but in the monthly subscription space it is cheap and the product is worth it. Call me crazy but I don't find it unacceptable, evil or taking advantage of me to charge $100 a year for 24/7 HD surveillance that I can access for up to 10 days. To each his own. If you disagree, just don't forget to leave a comment about how stupid I am. It will really show me. People cite "Arlo" as a cheaper option when they're struggling with a monthly subscription. I'm not saying anything about Arlo because I don't know anything about it, just make sure you do your research and know the difference in what you're missing out on, if anything. I have a friend who uses Arlo and loves it. She showed it to me on her phone and the video quality was good. Advice for parents of young children. This camera is way better than the baby monitor we bought for about the same price. However, you must use motion/sound. Sensor or just constantly monitor your phone or computer.
