Go flea market, apply for credit, donate plasma. If you have kids, don't waste your time with anything less. This is by far the best camera I've ever owned. I had lots of tips and shots, big zooms and camera phones (which I don't even count but should mention since I see so many parents use apples to document graduations?). My kids have been in sports for years, and I've been spending money on increasingly expensive cameras for 16 years. I finally decided to buy these since my kids are in high school and I don't have much time to find an inexpensive camera to capture them on the go. I've taken about 1000 photos with it so far. That's great. The dial at the top lets you choose a lot of general settings that will do all the adjustments for you and give you sensible images. I'm speaking sensibly like I'm a pro, not on the case. I tend to. Once you get the hang of it, you can switch to advanced settings. I've been playing around with them and they're easy to change and switch back when going back to auto mode. (thanks for that) Compared to other cameras in this class, I can't say how good it is. All I know is that Nikon and Canon are the best. I compared the features for months before settling on this one. It came right into my budget and had the features I was looking for. Also, the price dropped after the announcement of the T5i. I think the T5i has better video. 5 frames per second is impressive. I photographed my son at baseball games and he freezes the ball so you can see the colors of the letters and stitches on the ball. I think if I learn to concentrate, you can read the inscriptions. But I'm using a standard lens, so shutter speed may be affected. I also bought a 75-300mm lens and it's impressive. I went the cheap route and didn't get a traffic reduction. I don't think I need to shoot in good light, or I can just put it on a tripod. I can't express how much I "love" photography now because with point and shoot cameras it's a chore. This is how a photo should be. The Canon T4i makes photography easy and although I'm new to this type of camera I feel like a pro and my photos come out the way I want to see them for the first time. Of all my electronic purchases including TVs, Tuners, Keyboards etc etc this is the one item I can honestly say I am most proud of. As a side note, if you have a few different lenses in your bag, people will ask you if you can take prom or prom photos of their kids. Photo blah blah blah. I can accept multiple offers to pay for this thing. But couldn't be happier with money well spent.
