Undemanding good for climbing

These micro cleats are great for snowy/icy trails but not for areas with thicker snow (snowshoes or crampons with cleats work best). The spikes on this product are not sharp spikes but rather flattened studs that are about a quarter inch deep. These are not simple microspikes. I ordered according to her recommended shoe size and sewed the heels on further because they just came off after a short distance. So you can imagine my frustration with frequent stops to adjust and reattach the heel piece on each foot during a 4 mile hike. The quality is good, but the design needs improvement. I used them on my waterproof running shoes during this hike. Maybe they work differently on my hiking boots? I would recommend them if you want something cheap and don't mind the hassle. However, I would consider the following: If you have a size 8.5 or larger (women's) trail running shoe, the size of the large micro lugs could work in your favor. I'm a size 8, I ordered a large. I didn't find it difficult to attach them to my boots but apparently they weren't tight enough which caused them to slip off my shoes. I also ordered a medium one and it was incredibly difficult to stretch and attach to my shoes; it looked like it would snap like a rubber band. That's why I chose the big one. Also, I'm not sure if every size is made exactly the same or with the correct settings.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • I won't say anything
