Review on iBetterLife 2 Pack Digital Waterproof Wireless Refrigerator Thermometer with Large LCD Display -20 to 60 Degree (-4 to 140 F) for Indoor/Outdoor Monitoring by Chris Bailey

Great idea, seems accurate but KILLED by CONDENSATE AND MOISTURE.

I bought this to replace an identical one I had for about a year. Accuracy is good, visibility is good. The transmitters seem to have a good, strong RF signal as the measurement works through the metal shell of my kitchen fridge (one sensor in the freezer, one in the lower section for fresh foods). BUT the old transmitters died, first one, then the other. When I examined them, the battery compartments were full of rust and corrosion. Then, out of curiosity, I took it apart with a screwdriver. In both transmitters the circuit boards were corroded and wet! Apparently the low temperature of my fridge and freezer has caused condensation to form inside the transmitters (similar to the condensation that forms and runs down the inside of windows on a cold winter's day). The water caused corrosion and rust on the circuit boards, destroying the electronics. I can't imagine using these transmitters outdoors where they are exposed to rain or snow in addition to the cold. like that . what is it good for? Check the temperature in the house? You don't need wireless functionality for this, you can just walk up to a regular thermometer and take a look! While this was going on it seemed to be working fine, it's accurate and easy to read. But he died a year later. Due to the poor design (and apparently lack of testing - unless the seller is honest) I only gave it two stars.

Pros
  • Digital thermometers
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
