I've been a big fan of the Corsair Obsidian case series for years. In fact, I've reused an old Obsidian 650D and my previous 3 PC builds over the past 7 years. It's a fantastic case, but right now it's really lacking in some of the modern features found in cases these days. I've been building PCs for over a decade now and I have to say that the Obsidian 500D SE RGB not only looks great, it was an absolute pleasure to put in! Yes, it's a little expensive. In fact, I've never spent so much money on a good cause before. But considering that it comes with 3 LL120 RGB fans, a Commander Pro and a Lightning Pro node, that's really a fair price for the case. These accessories alone will set you back around $150 if you buy them individually! If you don't like RGB I recommend checking out the regular 500D which is just as great and less expensive. If you're looking to switch to RGB, this is definitely worth checking out! The building is quite spacious. You can install a radiator up to 360 mm at the front and up to 280 mm at the top (with space reserve! Unlike the 570x case). There is more than enough room for a two-stroke setup with a 360mm radiator up front. in this case damn good! I managed to route all my cables and make them look nice and clean enough that I didn't hesitate to show the back of the case through the sexy tinted tempered glass. Heck, I'm even thinking about putting an RGB strip in there! Speaking of tempered glass, I really like the doors in this case. They are articulated but can also be easily removed to get them completely out of the way when working inside the case if required. I much prefer this hinge design to the 570x's bolt-on case design. I have very few doubts with this body. Only minor points of criticism that don't even deserve a star deduction. The first is the PSU cover. Corsair recently released the 570x Mirror Black Edition and the Obsidian 500D SE RGB. They've made a few changes/improvements from the originals. I had to assemble a black mirror case and one of the features added was the Corsair RGB logo on the PSU shroud that you can program in Corsair iCue software. The 500D SE is very similar to the original but geared more towards RGB lovers and yet they didn't put the RGB Corsair logo on the cover! For me, adding to the SE case is a breeze! The covers of the 570x MB and 500D are identical! They could have put that RGB logo cover in the SE very easily. But okay. He's still stunningly beautiful. I also didn't care about the placement of the Commander Pro and the lighting node. But it's really a personal preference. The lighting assembly attaches to the small side of the PSU shroud that faces the front fans, while the Commander Pro attaches to the bottom of the case, covering the openings that would normally house a reservoir in an open circuit cooling system. . However, I didn't find it difficult to put them in the background. Where are the hard drive bays located. Some people even move them into the PSU shroud where there is enough room for it, especially if you don't have a massive PSU. But I don't use hard drives, so I removed the trays and installed them there. I think Corsair assumed a lot of people would port the controllers because they even put new double sided tape in the accessory box! So no big deal. I really enjoyed changing the layout of the whole thing. Overall I really like this case. It's just amazing when it all comes together. It comes with a lot of goodies for the money, and there's still room for more customization. I will probably use this beauty for years!
