Review on Motorcraft PW507 Water Pump by Mark Bearden

Purchased for Ford Ranger Edge 3.0L V-6 Code U 2WD 2003 This is a quality part built to last. My last one had 186,000 miles on it and was still running before the gasket started leaking so I decided to change the pump as I was going to have to take it off to replace the gasket anyway. The casting marks are smooth and free of slag and the gasket fits. The surface is immaculate. The strong point in my opinion is the bearing and the oil seal. Ford seems to have got it right as this is the main reason most water pumps fail. Whatever they did here seems to work best as my old stock was still relatively tight and smooth after all those miles. It will cost you about twice as much as a non-Motorcraft part, but in my opinion it's worth it. The good thing is that it is made in the USA. It comes with a gasket but be prepared to buy another one as they pack it loose in a box with a rattling water pump so the gasket looks pretty chewed up when it arrives. Even with an additional purchase of the pad, this is still a great offer. Hope that helps!
