Our dog doesn't mind going outside in the rain or snow and will run around until he's completely wet. Keeping him warm and dry when he comes home is another matter so we decided to buy him a raincoat. For protection, this raincoat is almost perfect! The hood falls on his head, and because he's a bulldog, he has a big bowler hat. If this raincoat had a closure like velcro or a tie to close the hood around the neck and not just the opening for the dog's head, it would be much better. The fit is a little tight at the moment, but once we put it on our head it has plenty of neck room. He's not a big fan of the clear visor, and the hood suits a dog with a longer muzzle better than a dog with a shorter muzzle like an American Bulldog. We have to open the hood or it will become too long for his face and completely block his view when he is allowed to fall forward. One great thing we noticed is that this jacket didn't smell when you opened the box. It also didn't have any powder or the feel you sometimes get with raincoats. The rest of the coat is perfect. It covers all of his sides to the middle of his legs. It's also long enough to cover his entire tail. There are elastic loops you can hook under your dog's hind legs to keep the coat in place on a windy day, but with our dog's build they are too loose to do much so we pulled them up . . It doesn't seem to bother him and even in the wind it wasn't an issue with the coat billowing out exposing his coat underneath. He also doesn't mind wearing a coat. He stands still, just wags his tail while we put this on him, and then goes outside to do some crafting in the rain or snow. The bandages on his chest and abdomen do not prevent him from going to the potty. The same goes for the length of the coat - although the coat fits snugly on the sides and back, the length never got in the way of going to the potty, didn't get in the way, and didn't get dirty. This coat will not keep your dog warm, so in winter it serves more as a snow cover than anything else. Even in heavy rain, dogs stay almost completely dry, although you will have to wipe their paws.
