SATA HD Mechanic's Vise with 8" Swivel Base - ST70845SC If you are reading this review you probably already know how much easier it is (and safer) A good vise makes it easier to repair or work on wood or metal. This vise fits in the corner of my husband's workbench. The handle rotates easily and can clamp the jaws securely, but they don't stick, meaning you don't have to hit the handle to tighten or loosen. The same goes for turning screws, and if you're applying enough torque to the vise to make it turn, even if it's tight, you're not using the vise properly. The base is solid (not cast hollow) and the countertop will fail before the vise does. One thing to note about these vises is that they are compact and the jaw opening is limited to about 6 inches. The included jaws are knurled but without sharp teeth or edges that work well with most materials; However, they have a standard screw pattern, which means you can replace them if necessary. This is our latest of several SATA branded tools and we continue to be impressed with their affordability and quality. My husband loves this. Highly recommended.
