Review on LG 34GL750-B Ultragear 34 Inch UltraWide Screen, Curved, Height Adjustable, 144Hz, Adaptive Sync by Darrin Green

I had heard for years how good 144Hz monitors were for gaming, but I didn't want to spend money on an upgrade, especially as I already had an ultra-wide 34-inch monitor with a 3440 x 1440 resolution. I saw this monitor on sale for Primeday. , and I thought the price justified the switch, even at the lower resolution - I didn't think it would be that noticeable. God I was wrong. 1080p just isn't high enough for a 34-inch monitor unless you're sitting unusually far from the monitor. Even compared to the 27-inch 1080p 16:9 monitors I use at work, the pixel density on this thing is painfully low. I found the gaps between individual pixels to be extremely noticeable - not as bad as the "screen door effect" when using a first generation VR headset, but definitely annoying. On the other hand, I can report that the higher refresh rate and G - Sync really makes a big difference in first person shooters. In Apex Legends in particular I had a lot of trouble tracking moving targets and once I started shooting I often lost sight of what I was shooting due to muzzle flashes. I'm getting old and my FPS days are over but at 144hz the problem has been greatly reduced and I do more damage and get more kills in each match However I can't recommend this monitor as the image quality isn't good in my opinion is good enough. I ended up returning it but I couldn't go back to 60Hz so I bought an Alienware AW3418DW instead. It's expensive and d only works up to 120Hz, but it's worth it for the higher screen resolution and improved image quality, in my opinion. My recommendation: If you want an ultra-wide monitor, save some money and get a 3440 x 1440 120Hz monitor. If you're happy with 16:9, buy a 1440p @ 144Hz monitor.
