Let me start by saying that I did not use these socks for their intended purpose of walking on the beach. BUT. I was planning to use these socks when vacationing in Florida this fall. I spent some time in Florida with small cuts on my legs from shells and sand so I wanted to clear that up before returning to Florida. In the meantime I went to Cape Cod. I was with an ornithologist friend who goes for walks whatever the weather. Most of the trails were sandy and wet and I didn't have proper shoes with me. SO into the socks, into the old sneakers and off we went. My feet didn't get sandy at all. My shoes were wet and very sandy but my feet were protected by these socks! My feet were wet, but not a single grain of sand. AMEN! The socks were quickly washed and dried and I ended up using them as "socks" for every beach/sand trip. Where I've been on Cape Cod, there were a lot of rocks on the beach. These socks didn't have enough "soles" to walk on a rocky beach, but when used with sandals, the sand didn't get on my feet. FL sand is finer and has small pieces of shell so they work perfectly! ** Just wish they were 1-2 inches above the ankle. Time will tell how durable they are. I wear size 6 women's shoes and the small fits the room. Could easily be a size 7. Still happy!
