I recently became interested in tube amplifiers and did a little research. After looking at the audio files and reading the reviews, it seemed that these Chinese amps are gaining respect and are considered good value. I have been very happy with my Marantz SR 5013 AV receiver, particularly with the features and connectivity it offers. Marantz now serves as a preamp for a tube amp. I run a pair of Klipsch RP-600M speakers and an old Teledyne subwoofer. I received my amp yesterday. The packaging was very strong with double boxes and great protection for the amp and tubes. Installation was easy as the lamps were manually labeled with the appropriate connectors. Once I got it working I couldn't bring myself to go to bed until 1am! I've been told that the tube tone improves after about 100 hours of break-in. Now everything is in order. Just take a look. What impresses the most is the soundstage. The vocals appear to come from a very specific spot between the speakers. Some instruments sound like they go beyond the width of the speakers. The speakers acoustically disappear and I reappear like never before. As expected, the tubes produce a warmer, more rounded sound than Marantz solid-state speakers, which have more pronounced highs. Both are great to listen to, but a tube amp isn't as tiring as a solid state amp can sometimes be.
