Good idea and product but bad instructions

We bought this for our dog who suddenly lost feeling in one hind leg and most of the feeling in the other. She could not walk at all and at times could barely stabilize herself to go about her business. We saw the reviews and knew about the problem with the instructions before we bought it, but we also saw some YouTube videos of other people using it successfully, so we understood the possible issues. Challenge #1: Do the damn thing right. The instructions seemed pointless along with the photos. Everything seemed to be upside down when you put it together the way it was shown to you. So we looked at the one used on YouTube and in fact they assembled it upside down as instructed in the instructions. Here's what we did. The rear bracket is lower than the long bars that stick out in front. Finally, the pin is put on the dog. Task number 2: put a dog on him. Once it's built the "right" way, how to get the dog to fit in becomes fairly obvious. You place the wheelchair on the floor and line up the front straps on the floor to prepare the front legs. You lift the dog up, and then as you lower it, guide the hind legs into the holes, making sure the tail goes back and not into one of the leg holes. Then lower the front of the dog and slip the front legs between the straps already laid. Making sure the rear legs are fully seated in the holes, lift the front of the wheelchair and attach the top harness to the dog's back. Then, if your dog can't control his legs, raise them with two straps to hold them back and up so they don't pull. Challenge #3: The leg wheel bolts definitely come off too easily, even when tightened. Pincers causing one side of the wheelchair to fall off making it very difficult for the dog to walk. There is an Allen screw on one side of the shackle and a thumb screw on the other side of the shackle to clamp the shackle in between. But even when tightened quite a bit, they seem to loosen up again within a day or so. The two screws make marks on the wheel mount, so I used those marks and drilled small holes in the mount (I didn't drill all the way through). The metal is fairly soft and easy to drill. I then used threadlock (like Loctite) on both the hex screw and thumbscrew as I re-torqued them as tight as I dared without twisting them. Only time will tell if my brilliant idea for this problem actually solves the problem. So far we are happy with this item and both we and our dog are much happier that he is able to exercise. She is able to go about her business and seems comfortable being held securely. It will be good if she ever realizes how far she is in him so she can avoid the obstacles that keep hanging on her. But then again, it's only a few days and we're all looking at how this thing is going to work out for us over the long term. If I have more ideas over time, I'll update this review.
