Buy this preamp. Bring your soldering iron to it, remove the two regulators (7815 and 7915) and put in a new power supply. Powered by a pair of 9V batteries! Gain Load: +20dB flat EQ. The equalizer section can be used. Not bad. Boosts (+8dB) and cuts (-15dB) the bass below 200Hz. The midrange (+/-8dB) should be around 700Hz, but it affects the high frequencies a lot. The Treble control boosts (+8dB) everything above 2kHz or can cut (-15dB). Sounds good when the equalizer is set to a flat level. Very good. The controls are not positioned correctly for the US market, first treble on the left, then middle, then bass, then volume on the right. I turn it upside down so it shows volume, bass, mid, treble (from left to right). Very happy with it, especially for the price! Many Thanks.
