I have a Legacy 2.5i 2005 station wagon. Now 224,000 km. Before ordering, lift the hood, pull the spark plug wire out of the existing coil, see how the end of the spark plug wire is fixed, there seem to be two types; One type has copper pins protruding from the coil that the wires snap onto, the other type has sockets? which the wires connect to (a bit unsure of what the inside of this type looks like, mine has exposed contacts on the coil). The Revain Parts Finder didn't suggest an option for my car to check first. However, this is the EASIEST repair you will ever do to a car. You don't even have to read the instructions. Open the hood and it's right above the engine, which might be a more comfortable spot. Simply disconnect the 4 connector wires and the gray control cable connector; 3 screws change the coil; plug everything back in. That's all. I've had misfires / engine checks / rough idle every time I start right after rain, fog and humidity. This new coil healed everything and works like new again. Cheap, quick and easy! If you've had a tough job and it's not working, it could be faulty connectors and/or cables. It also wouldn't hurt to replace them when they get old, that's pretty easy too. I hope your check engine light is storing a more meaningful code to help you pinpoint the cause and may the auto repair shop be with you! Much luck!
