I added another grille for a larger opening to keep the dog out. We needed a smaller one for the side door. Normal gates have vertical and horizontal bars and the dog will climb. No more climbing with vertical bars. The matte metallic bronze finish makes it look better. Installation can be tricky as tension is used and I was concerned it would damage the wall but it didn't. Out of the box the block will bend and the gate will not open properly, this is part of the design. When you add tension, the shackle disappears and the gate opens correctly. A few criticisms: I wouldn't recommend this gate for high traffic areas as the gate latch is a bit sticky (the wider model has a much better latch system). hips, it might be a little tight.
