They don't work like many aftermarket kits because the spring clips require some sort of housing to attach. Other aftermarket kits use simple friction metal clips that can be used almost anywhere. In order for these spring clips to work in my mount, I had to drill four holes in the body, 2 pairs of holes on opposite sides of the inside of the mount. These holes should be large enough that each hole fits into one end of the end of the spring clip. It works, but it took me a lot more to get it working. Oddly enough, the same manufacturer makes perfect-fit modified 4-inch versions of this product that don't require that extra work. I'm not sure why they don't offer the same product in the 5/6 inch version.
