UPDATE: I ordered this cooling pad on July 4th, 2016. Shortly after I received it and started using it, the bottom group of fans started making an annoying whirring sound that was loud enough for me to turn off the bottom fans unless my laptop needed some extra air. He has done what he said to this day. For some reason it just started shorting out and flickering. Even though he is working now, he is very weak. Yesterday he was working as usual so I have no idea what happened but he died. However, it served its purpose for about 1.5 years. Remember this was with almost constant use. If you turn it off when you're not using your computer, or only use it for specific purposes, it may take longer to run. My criticism now is that the front arms that keep the laptop from sliding off are too weak. This is a type of bracket that simply snaps into place with a plastic tab on each side that matches the holes built into the cooler. They look a lot like the smaller feet on the back of a desktop keyboard. For a small laptop this might work, but I have a monster 17 inch gaming laptop that is too heavy for my hands. I have to reattach them and check they aren't loose and several times my laptop has slid down and the levers fully extended. The USB cable connecting the cooler to the laptop was also loose from the start. It worked, but the USB could wiggle back and forth slightly, which worries me because it doesn't indicate the most durable product. This cooling pad is also not the best for a 17 inch laptop. When my laptop is on the stand and tilted, with the non-slip arms holding it forward, the furthest point of the cooling pad protrudes at least 1 inch at the back of the stand. However, I think the cooling pad's metal mesh was a good choice over plastic and offers better ventilation. The plastic bottom feels a little too thin for my taste. I would have preferred a more durable plastic or even something primarily metal. However, this cooling pad served its purpose for a decent amount of time; These are just some of the things to keep in mind when considering this issue. This may work better or worse for you depending on your individual needs and the laptop you have. Just received this product today. I was looking for a new cooling pad for my laptop because my previous one stopped working. I chose this one because it had very positive reviews and a 1 year guarantee. While it works great. I wasn't sure what color it would be when I received it. The box it came in was a purple model, but when I opened it up it was red to match the Revain display (not that I cared about the color). There are two USB ports on the back: one for connecting the cooler to a laptop and the second for replacing the one used by the cooler. There are also two dials on the back that control the speed of the top and bottom fans separately. If you turn them all the way to the left (looking at the panel when it's sitting as if your laptop is standing on it and facing you), you'll hear a click and the fans will turn off. As expected, the pad emits a faint hum when turned on, but adjusting the fan speed can reduce the noise a bit if that bothers you. Finally, there is a button to turn off the LEDs, but strangely enough, it doesn't turn off the LEDs in the fans. It only controls the LEDs on the emblem in the center of the pad. I think this makes the button a bit unusable, but since my laptop is still sitting on it when it's on, the LEDs don't bother me and I skip the middle part. The pillow definitely cools my laptop. I was surprised at how cold the metal case around my keyboard was after turning on the pad. The air that comes out of the side vent is also cold, and I even felt a little cold when I sat down at my laptop. When I start using my laptop for various purposes, it gets a little warmer, but still cold and barely noticeable. My old pad only had 2 small fans in the middle and definitely wasn't as efficient as the 4 fans in this pad. The included USB cable feels solid and fits nicely in the underside storage compartment. Anti-slip feet on the bottom edge prevent your laptop from slipping off and they work great. I was concerned they would be too long and press against my hands when typing, but they land right under the top of my laptop's base. My laptop is an HP EliteBook 6930p, so about the thickness of an average laptop. If you have a very thin laptop, the legs may be longer than they are thick, but the way they're designed, they're probably intended to secure any laptop to the bottom when it's between the base and the keyboard surface, rather than against a fully rounded edge. Another great thing is that it works great on uneven surfaces. I usually sit on my bed and put my laptop on a thick pillow and I was worried that the fans wouldn't work properly if I sat on this surface, but they had no problem working properly and they work the same, like they would if they were secured. Feet on the back of the pillow. Again, my laptop is an HP EliteBook 6930p. I was too lazy to look at how big it is, but I think it's about 16 inches tall and there's only about an inch of cooling pad left at the widest points at each corner, so it fits snugly. You can check. Size of my laptop to see how well yours fits. However, I have a few minor complaints, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The mat has no rubber feet on the mesh surface to keep your laptop from slipping, and the metal mesh is very smooth. The only thing that keeps my laptop from slipping is the non-slip feet and the fact that gravity pushes my laptop towards those feet. I definitely won't try to carry my laptop via this stand as it can easily slide off in one of three directions where the stand doesn't have legs to hold it (but you probably shouldn't try to carry it with your laptop ). it anyway.). because you can bend the grille and get in the way or even break the fans.) That being said, all of the rubber feet on the bottom of my laptop have fallen off over time. So if your laptop still has all its feet, you might not have a problem with it. I plan to buy rubber feet and solve this problem myself. Second, one of the fans is a bit noisy. It rattles a bit and I'm not sure why. I suspect it's a bit unbalanced. It works great with others; just a little loud. However, it's still no louder than my old cooling pad (Targus brand) and I don't see that as a big issue. I usually wear headphones and listen to something every time I use my laptop, so it doesn't bother me much. It's also one of those sounds that I think is easy to get used to and turn off after a while. How much you can hear it also depends on the angle your laptop is at and the angle you are sitting, both due to sound obstructions and because I think the angle keeps the fan off brings balance. I've used it in different positions and found that the noise stops at certain angles. Finally, I agree with another reviewer that the back design has some flaws. It looks cool but has large gaps that don't protect the fans the way we'd like. I haven't had any problems with it yet, but if you were to plant it on a very soft surface I definitely think there will be some problems. If you're planting it on something that can't be smoothed out and that might snag on the fans, I'd suggest finding something solid, like a big book, to put underneath or at least level the surface as hard as you can. as far as possible, and use the mat's legs to support it and keep it as far off the surface as possible. If you use it on a table you shouldn't have any problems with it. Other than that, I have no complaints about this cooling pad. I think it works great so far. When I use it I really feel like it's blowing on me and cooling the space around me, so the fans are pretty powerful. The 1-year warranty is reassuring. If I have problems with it later I will check with the seller for a replacement/repair and send an updated review if necessary, but I'm hoping it'll be durable enough to last me a while. My old Targus lasted about 2.5 years.
