web sewing. . . .

In all my years of sewing I have never worked with silk yarn but it was recommended to me at a haute couture sewing class I recently attended. This is useful for hand sewing, especially for basting different layers together. It's also useful in place of tacking, as the silk thread doesn't dent the fabric as it's pinched. I had plans to make a wedding dress for the doll so I decided to try silk thread thinking it might be useful. in the taming of super smooth satin charmeuse. I'm happy to report that it works very well! The silk thread is very thin. . . It feels like you tied your needle with cobwebs! But it's also extremely powerful. I haven't had any glitches, although I've pulled hard on it from time to time just to check. Usually you want to wax the thread and iron it with a warm iron, which will strengthen it and make it less prone to tangles and knots. Since I was only winding the thread, I didn't wax the thread, although that would definitely make the thread more manageable. The thread is very slippery there. This is good because it slides through the fabric without friction. You don't have to pull hard, which means you won't strain your fingers or wrist while sewing. I haven't had any tangles yet, although I haven't waxed the thread. I deliberately chose the ecru color because it appears on most fabrics. I didn't want the basting threads to disappear from the fabric, making them difficult to remove. Neither do I. I don't need colored thread that can leave dye on white satin. I am very satisfied with this silk thread. It is perfect for haute couture sewing, whether you are sewing adult clothes, baby clothes or even doll clothes. Five stars and highly recommended!
