Review on Neewer Leveling Cameras Tripods Monopods by Jeremy Black

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Inexpensive device for quick and easy alignment of the tripod head.

The Newer Leveling Base is an excellent and affordable tripod head leveling tool. No hassle when raising/lowering the tripod legs. I believe this gives any tripod the versatility of a ball leveler on high end tripods. I add extra weight but the speed at which I can line up the fluid head is worth it. (Hydraulic heads are almost essential for smooth pan and tilt of a camcorder. But the camera has to be perfectly level or the pan won't be level and the result will be amateurish.) The only thing I don't like is the top platform has a 1 /4" bolts. This is normal when installing the camera. But that's unusual. Usually assemble the tripod head base. Essentially insert an aligner between the tripod and the tripod head. Most good tripod heads have a 3/8" socket. Yes, you can attach a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter, but there are levels that have a 3/8" bolt for a stronger attachment can be supplied. However, this only becomes a problem with heavy professional camcorders and long telephoto lenses (read heavy). For typical consumer hardware (reading light) this should not be a factor. It doesn't fit in most of my gear, but I do have some heavy duty safari lenses. . For typical consumer hardware (reading light) this should not be a factor.
