I love round mic stands in my recording studio. Large tripods only get in the way in a studio where there are already a lot of people. The clutch is the weakest part of these coasters, it can be tightened just enough to keep them from falling off and loosening with use, but it's too easy. Over-torqueing the clutch, causing it to break permanently. However, these coasters are half the price of competing Atlas models and can last a long time with proper care. I use them as mic stands around my drum kit, as headphone stands and when our band rehearses we use them to store vocal mics. Stability. For the price they are unbeatable.
