After I received the blade I ran it over my trimming stone and stroked it, it was very sharp. It was a very comfortable first shave. I test the sharpness of my blade by running it through the hair on my arm without touching the skin. and if it catches or cuts the hair, it's sharp enough for me. The best thing about this blade is that after I shaved with it it still caught the hairs on my arm which just tells me it holds the blade very well. Good quality steel. Very impressed so far. This is definitely an after purchase item, except I have a feeling it will last a very long time.
