Review on Ultralife Blue Green Slime Stain Eliminator by Donia Carey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This product is incredibly amazing

Why isn't this all over the shelves in pet shops? Why isn't this the first thing people mention on fish forums to combat BGA (blue-green algae, aka cyanobacteria)? I went nuts trying to fight this thing in my planted 29 gallon tank. I accidentally let my nitrates get too low and had a MASSIVE eruption. I followed all the advice I could find to get rid of this junk - light adjustment, water circulation, fertilizer dosage, etc. per day. I finally found this stuff and decided damn why not, it definitely couldn't make BGA any worse than it already was. I dosed as instructed but didn't add Aeroston as my filter settings create a lot of surface movement. I only dosed once but did a partial water change halfway through and replaced what I removed when I added new water. I was very disappointed the first few days: nothing had changed, algae was everywhere. Then all of a sudden, about the fifth or sixth day, it just started to melt. Large parts of it simply disappeared, others turned brownish and, as it were, dissolved. Within 7 or 8 days of my first dose, every BGA stain was gone. I've attached a before and after photo of my tank part. The top photo was taken just before treatment (and this was AFTER manually removing the tuft during a pre-treatment water change) and the bottom photo was taken 6 days later. There were a few tiny spots around the tank at this point, but as I said all spots were gone by day 8 or so. If you know the cause of an outbreak but still can't get rid of the algae, this product will be your lifesaver. If you don't know why you have a BGA, this is probably a temporary fix at best, but it may buy you time to figure out what the problem is. I will never be without again! And I almost forgot to mention that none of my fish, even the most sensitive ones, had absolutely no ill effects and didn't harm my beneficial bacteria at all.
