You get what you pay for. I was initially surprised at how mediocre the braking performance was compared to the OEM Tektro brakes, even after a break-in. They seemed to stop with a stronger initial bite that tapers in proportion to brake lever pressure as opposed to a gradual increase. After the run, I took them to the trail. after 2 hours of driving, the front pads are already too worn to use them again. The back is also glazed which I sanded down and fixed the problem. then they were glazed again, even after they had broken open again. My old set of Tektro pads with the same break in progress didn't feel as unsatisfactory or soft as these.
