I ended up having to buy two, my boys broke the first one when I was messing around with it or so I thought. Today, even though the guys weren't around him, I noticed that the cats had broken him. These are 6 month old cats so yes one of them in particular is very active and likes to grab things but they don't even weigh 10lbs they can't be too big for a scratching post. So now the second one leaned over and almost fell when the cat fell on the little ball (he looked very frustrated). I really don't recommend it as while it looks nice it isn't strong enough.
