I ordered it without knowing that it's aluminum. I thought it was an improved ductile iron lid. The quality of this diff cover is amazing, it's easy to see why it's so expensive. It is very well made and the magnetic dipstick and drain plug are good. However, I need it for a car that gets quite a bit of off-road use and aluminum just doesn't fit. I have already broken an aluminum diff cover and don't want to have the same problem a second time. If my rig was going to be on asphalt or forest trails I would definitely use it.
