Bomb protection on luggage racks

Bomb protection. Installation was easy and everything went well with my 2016 JKUR. It's heavy and solid. The downsides are that the burst of throttle to go up and down is pretty much useless. Once you lower the tray from its open position, it no longer comes into play due to the design of the anchors. In other words, you can't just drop it and expect it to fall in a controlled manner - it will lock into place. It does work by holding the tablet, though, and that's probably the intended design. Another problem are the small hex screws. One of mine was pre-rounded so I couldn't tighten it. Not a big deal since both problems can be overcome. I hit the road after installation and my gear stayed tethered and there was no rumble. Now I can carry gear and still sleep in the Jeep, unlike the Aires it replaces. Please note that this is not intended to be a secure shelf. You can still reach through the back and sides to steal items with the tailgate closed. If you are looking for something secure and lockable, Aires, Tuffy or JeepBackbone is your best choice. hook in the right position. What I will do to overcome this is position the hooks where they should be and drill a millimeter hole in the long bar to use as a bracket and then tighten the set screw. I still haven't figured out what size they are, but the Harbor Freight set screw kit doesn't come with that size. The second issue is that the pieces of felt used between the bottom of the shelf and the bracket stay compressed so you end up with a few millimeters of play between the shelf and the brackets which causes everything to rattle and eventually becomes problem #1 1 caused above . I replaced the felt with thick rubber and so far it's holding up. These are minor things and not enough to deduct a star. I love this shelf! Update #2: Drill flat holes in the stem where the hooks go and screw the set screws into the flat holes that will hold well. After a few months of use (7000 miles?) no rattling or problems. My 5 stars remain.
