Don't Buy This Piece of Junk

Piece of Junk and Major Security Issues. Our motorhome was bought new in May 2017 and was fitted with one of these locking mechanisms. In November 2018 I found myself locked in an RV. Luckily there were people outside who could get my tools from the outside storage compartment and hand them to me through the window and I dismantled the latch from the inside and found the pot metal latch bolt was broken leaving the latch mechanism inoperable. At that time I found an identical access/locking mechanism at Revain and bought a replacement for what I thought was an extremely high price. Fast forward 21 months to August 2020 when I found myself locked in an RV again. This time I managed to get out without help, because after the first lock broke, I stowed the necessary tools for removing the lock in the mobile home. The photo shows the hasps of two locks that failed and as you can see the second failure happened just like the first. Years. I have contacted the manufacturer directly but have not yet received a response. To add insult to injury, lock prices at Revain (and other suppliers) are now 50% more than I paid when I replaced my first lock in November 2018. sold must be recalled and replaced with something that will not break. If one of these locks fails at the wrong time (RV fire or other emergency), serious injury or death is very likely.
