I prefer Monoprice over other manufacturers for all my cable needs

I have never bought a cable from Monoprice that I was unhappy with and have bought quite a few cables from them over the years. I recommend Cat6 for home use as Cat6a is only useful for very long cables which are not needed in most homes. All my cables are 50 feet or less. Cat6a is recommended for lengths over 100-150 feet. Cat5a will also work, but Cat6 is a bit more robust and will run at higher speeds in the future if needed. I prefer heavier cables when I need to run them through the attic or around corners. I've had old Cat5 cables that loosen and break over time because they're quite fragile. It's better to pay a little more as the price difference for home use is only a few dollars for short cables (50 feet or less). I also like that Monoprice's Ethernet cables come in a variety of colors. This makes it easier when connecting multiple devices to know which one goes where in the future. The rooms in my house that have AV equipment typically require three or four connections, so I just buy an inexpensive switch for each room. (Now they cost about $10.) The wires from each switch can be different colors. One for TV, another for DVD player, TiVo, AppleTV or whatever.
