Review on Leviton 8480 I Receptacle Industrial Grounding by Scott Channell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor choice for the home office

Designed to connect to industrial wiring. Unless you have a 4" square metal box in the wall you will need an adapter plate, sold separately, Catalog 3254. They also expect you to have an insulated ground wire. The instructions warn that otherwise there is a risk of shorting out, as there are exposed live screw terminals on the back, right where it plugs into the wiring inside the box. All of that is manageable, but then you realize that the wiring screws are slotted, not Phillips, despite the high price. But is securely built and holds the plugs stubbornly. Another nice feature is that it has room for a few wall warts.

Pros
  • Electrical
Cons
  • Poor user manual
