I bought this travel bottle to make my own coffee in hotels as dirty cars and coffee pods just aren't enough for me. The first time I used it it shut off before it boiled so I decided to check the top temp. Normally the water temperature would reach 92°C (max temperature 93°C/200°F) and turn off automatically. The water temperature was 82°C after 10 minutes (lid open, plugged in). Curious about the heat dissipation, I left it on for another 10 minutes and to my surprise the temperature rose to 90 degrees! This showed me that the heating element should continue to heat the water if the device is left plugged in and the lid closed. I unplugged the unit and recorded the temperature at 10 minute intervals: 81°C, 74°C, 69°C, 65 CI I plan to use hot water with Aeopress right after it reaches the maximum temperature, not around keeping something hot as it doesn't retain enough heat to do a commute. I prefer dark roasts, so thankfully brewing coffee at 93ºC or lower is preferable, and green tea is also best brewed at 80ºC or lower. So I plan to keep the device and will update it when the device stops working.
