Review on Thrustmaster TH8A Shifter (Compatible with PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC) by Chris Budenski

Good for a mid-range switch. A little discouraging.

I paired it with a Thrustmaster T300 Ferarri Alcantera wheel, T3PA Pro pedal set and wheel stand. I thought it was the best hardware you could buy for less than $1000, but looking back I wish I could spend a few hundred dollars and start using Fanatec hardware right away. This manipulator itself is fine. I've never had a problem with it or with the Thrustmaster controller's interface, but it's always left a lot to be desired. It feels sloppy and frankly cheap. For another $100 or so, you can get a Fanatec switch. This device comes with an included desktop clip, which is a nice touch. The biggest problem for me with TH8A is the transition from H-Pattern to Sequential. You need to find a hex wrench, remove the shift knob, remove the top H plate, find the sequential shift plate, reinstall the screws and reattach the shift knob. It's such a pain that I rarely change the H-pattern to serial. I know a lot of people rave about this switch, and it's definitely an improvement over the included switches that come with some of Logitech's cheaper wheelsets, but it's a little disappointing. If you're looking to keep your Switch budget under $200 this might be your best bet, but in my experience - if you're looking to dive into mid-range gear, compare Thrustmaster's entire setup to some of the bigger brands. I guess I just had higher expectations for this Switch based on the rave reviews.
